Irish Wolfhound - Extra Large - Adult - Male - Dog - Champ
Description
Champ was adopted out to a children's home from the Hollister Animal Shelter in 2007 and was very popular with the children -- they loved him and he loved them. Sadly, the caretaker of the home was laid off and when he left, there was no one to take responsibility of Champ, and so he was returned to our rescue. Now temporarily residing at The Dog House Inn in Gilroy, CA, 3 y.o. Champ is undergoing training for obedience and socialization. Champ is a natural athlete and will make an excellent running companion or prospect for dog athletic events, such as agility or fly ball. Champ loves to be an indoor/outdoor dog, but because of his athletic ability, he requires a yard with a 6-foot fence as he can scale a 5-foot fence. Champ is a good dog and very intelligent. Because of his size and strength, a dog-savvy guardian with an active lifestyle would best suit Champ, someone who has past experience with larger breeds and who will provide Champ with opportunities to expend his youthful energy. Champ would best be in a home without small children under the age of 8 years old -- again, this is simply due to his size.
